Hello, I'm

Neven Guberina

About Me

Hey there, I'm Neven Guberina, based in London, and I've got a story that might sound a bit different. I started out in the kitchen as a chef for over 8 years. But now, I'm diving headfirst into the tech world, all because of my love for software development.
Back in my teen years, I was that IT geek who couldn't get enough of technology. I even took an off-site IT class during high school and later did a Edexcel BTEC Level 2 and 3 in IT Practitioners in college.
But, you know, sometimes life doesn't go as planned. Despite my skills and enthusiasm, job hunting in the tech field felt like hitting a brick wall. That got me down, and when the chance to earn a living as a chef came up, I went for it. Gotta pay the bills, right?
Working in the kitchen had its moments, sure. But that tech dream? It never really left me. I felt like I missed out on something big. Then, one day, it clicked. Coding was the perfect blend of my tech curiosity and the excitement of building something from scratch.
So, I decided it was time for a change. I saved up every penny I could, giving myself the runway to chase that coding dream without any regrets this time. It wasn't easy, but every line of code was challenging, yet incredibly satisfying.
Thanks for being a part of my story as I trade in spatulas for keyboards. Let's see where this coding adventure takes us!

Experience

I've recently graduated The JustIT boot camp and they've taught me the fundamentals of software development and equipped me with the tools and knowledge necessary to independently learn new languages and frameworks.
Currently, I am focused on learning Tailwind CSS and React.
I have experience with the following technologies:

HTML

CSS

Javascript

Python

MySQL

Figma

Tailwind

React

My Projects

Python/Tkinter

FilmFlix Python App: Initially a command-line tool, it evolved into a GUI application using Tkinter. Designed to manage FilmFlix's movie database with CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete). Utilizes SQLite3 for data storage. Offers options to add, update, delete records, and print various reports based on genre, year, and rating. Enhanced user experience through a user-friendly GUI interface, improving usability and functionality.

Javascript

JavaScript-based web application that provides real-time information about certain cryptocurrencies through APIs. The site automatically updates Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin values when page is refreshed. Delving deeper, each widget leads to dedicated pages for these cryptocurrencies. Using Chart.js I've shown a year's worth of Open, High and Close rate data and displayed it into a Chart. I've also added a hamburger menu for easy navigation and a typewriter effect on the homepage.

React/TailwindCSS

This project showcases my learning journey in web development, focusing on: Responsiveness: The site adapts seamlessly to various screen sizes. Sections: Nav Bar with a hamburger menu on smaller devices, Hero, Popular Products, Services, Special Offers, Footer, and more
